How a Community Helps You Be Boss!

If there’s one thing that’s helped me the most in my business, it’s the support I get from my fellow makers and entrepreneurs!

There’s nothing like an encouraging word or bit of advice from someone who’s on a similar journey as you.

Digital Boss Babes

Through Academy of Handmade, I was paired up with “accountability partner” Dani Barbe. Right away, we exchanged emails and a phone call to set goals for ourselves. Just telling another person what you plan to do in a given week, even if it’s a stranger, can help motivate you to get the work done!

There have been weeks (indeed whole months) where we have lost touch, but following each other’s brands keeps us in the loop. Just today, I got a message from her that sparked enthusiasm for me to keep going!

Creative Conferences

I attended Craftcation last year a little bit on the whim, something I’m not accustomed to. I read about it and within the next 24 hours made the commitment for myself to travel to California and make my business a priority.

Craftcation is a business and makers conference chock full of classes to help you grow your small creative business, with a side of DIY classes just for fun.

For me, it’s been a game changer. Here’s why:

  • Incredible group of like-minded people who motivate you to kick butt
  • Beginner and advanced level classes in marketing, data analysis, social media, bookkeeping, and more to help you grow your brand
  • Super fun activities including DIY workshops, dance parties, make-and-take projects, yoga on the beach…
  • Sunshine!

After my first day, my head was already swimming with new ideas to take my business to the next level. And the best part about it was that I could talk it through with anyone else there and work out a plan before I even left!

Fellow Girl Bosses in California for Craftcation

Today, I still check in with a lot of people I met, and they are still motivating me to be the best version of myself and business!

This year, Craftcation takes place April 4-8, 2018, in the beach town of Ventura, California, (about an hour north of Los Angeles). I highly recommend you join me! Full disclosure, I am an ambassador and would love for you to sign up via my affiliate link, but in 100% honesty: I would be promoting it even if I wasn’t an ambassador. It’s just that great! Feel free to email me with questions.

Local Creative Masterminds

After being at Craftcation, I knew I needed some local input, some faces I could see regularly to help keep me motivated. I pulled some ladies together, and now we meet monthly to share our goals, successes, and failures.

Being a one-woman show, sometimes it’s hard to work out problems, and the answers aren’t always clear. Sometimes, I’ve talked the ears off my boyfriend and family and need some insight from those in similar situations.

This group of ladies makes a world of a difference! We express our frustrations, we work through problems together, and we laugh a lot! Even just sharing what you’re thinking with someone else helps so much.

 In Conclusion

So there you have it. Digitally. Locally. And Across the Country: a support system!

I feel like I’ve rambled on for quite some time now, and kudos to you if you’ve hit the bottom here.

All I’m really trying to say is, if you feel alone in your business venture, you’re not. There are lots of other women out there kicking a** and taking names! I know I’m incredibly thankful for those who support me! So thank you, thank you!
